English 102 Calendar: Week Eight
Read about the Library Log assignment. Go to the websites below.
Remember: the Log is directly related to your personal research paper topic. The subjective part, the diary, documents your search for a topic and for materials that support that topic. When you record this diary, be sure to include specific information (books and magazines that you have found, the names of people that you have talked to, etc.). This part of the log establishes the human connection to the topic. It is this human connection, your reasons for being interested in this topic, that will make your research paper of interest to the reader who does not necessarily have any interest in your topic. Your research paper will not be acceptable without it being obvious in the paper why you are writing about your topic.
Be sure to first read through The Library Log explanation in the syllabus.
You should have handy this quick and easy guide to the MLA Citations.
You should thoroughly study the information at this cite: Purdue University's Online Writing Lab. This cite will demonstrate how to construct a works cited page. You must model your page on the examples here. The works cited page is either right or it is wrong. There is no in between. There is only one way to do a works cited page in the MLA format that we use for this class.
Here is another helpful site: KnightCite. This one will do the work for you! You put in the bibliographic information, press the button, and you get the correct format. What could be easier? These types of "engines" mean that now you have absolutely no excuse for not having a 100% correct works cited page.
