English 101: Library Review
1:
Find one of each of the following and record the complete title [including author, publisher, date, and place] for books and the complete title [including date and place] for periodicals.
Circulating books [1 only] [This book must be taken from the library shelves. You must go to the shelves to get this book. You may also use a book from another library.]
Reference books [5 total]
Specialized subject area reference books on any subject, found in the reference section. For instance: you might find a book on psychology in the psychology reference section. The reference section call numbers will match the call numbers of the books in the circulating book collection. For psychology books, the call numbers will start with BF.]
General Encyclopedia (such as the World Book). These are found all together, not in alphabetical order, along the right wall at the ACTC library. Other libraries will either place them all together or integrate them into the reference section.
Major Dictionary (such as the Webster's International or Oxford English Dictionary)
Dictionary of slang or etymology [Look in the PE section]
Online encyclopedia (such as Wikipedia or the Americana online)

Use the Computerized Card Catalogue to find a circulating book in the ACC library, a book in another KCTCS library, a book in another Kentucky library. [You do not have to actually get these books. You only need to copy the bibliographic information (the author, title, publisher, place of publication, and the latest copyright date].

Find an article that has something to do with Ashland [or the town that you live in] in the Vertical File. You can also use the vertical file from another library. The vertical file is a collection of miscellaneous information. It is filed alphabetically in file cabinets. Record the bibliographic information [oftentimes incomplete].

Find an article that is available on the internet. Copy as much information as you think necessary, but be sure to include the following:
the author (if there is one indicated), the title of the website, the title of the article, the http: address, the date of the article (if there is one), the date that you accessed the website, and the http address.
