Prepharmacy
Workshops for College Students Available (April 13th, 19th,
27th, 28th)
The
UK College of Pharmacy will offer multiple Advising Workshops with the
Prepharmacy Advisor during the next few weeks. The below workshops will be
offered:
Prepharmacy
General Interest Session: This session is designed for students who are newer to
prepharmacy. The Advisor will discuss pre-requisite courses, scheduling of
classes, job shadowing, career options, and volunteering related to the UK
Pharm.D. degree.
Prepharmacy-
Prepare and Strengthen Your Application: This session is designed for students who
are beginning the application process to pharmacy school. The Advisor will
discuss the application process, including PharmCAS, UK supplemental
application, essays, letters of reference, and interviews. Assistance with the
scheduling of classes will also be provided.
Registration
is required through myUK/myInfo/myAppointments. Once students have selected
College of Pharmacy, they must choose Workshops from the options located at the
top of the screen. Students can find additional information and
registration instructions for non-UK students at http://pharmacy.mc.uky.edu/programs/prepharm/advisingsession.php.
Prepharmacy
Club Meeting Next Week!
The
final Prepharmacy Club meeting for this year will be on Wednesday, April 21st
from 5-6:30 pm, Biological Pharmaceutical Complex (BPC) room 124, the NEW
College of Pharmacy Building. A Cardiothoracic Surgery/Critical Care Pharmacist
and a PharmD researcher will be on hand to discuss their careers and answer
questions. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the
profession. At this meeting we will also hold elections for next year's
officers. If you are interested in running for a position, please email Bethany.Benyo@uky.edu with your

Please note that you must be a UK student to be an officer. Email Bethany
with any questions you may have.
Register
for the June PCAT Now!
Students
interested in starting pharmacy school in Fall 2011 should start completing
their applications when PharmCAS
(national online application service) opens on June 15. Students should submit
their applications by September/October, or earlier, to receive full
consideration by the UK College of Pharmacy given the rolling admissions
policy. Therefore, students should complete the PCAT in June, August and/or
October. January scores are not guaranteed by UK COP. Most students
complete the PCAT 2-3 times for UK COP. The PCAT registration deadline for the
June 19 exam is May 7, 2010. However, students are encouraged to register for
this exam ASAP since seats are limited!!!! Register now and start your application off
right! Make sure and attend the Workshop above to learn even more about the UK
COP application process!!
